We have analyzed the sales performance of cosmetic products on Southeast Asian eCommerce platforms in our July outlook. This month we want to provide insight into the sales performance and brand competitive landscape of key cosmetic subcategories, including lip makeup, face makeup, eye makeup, makeup removers, and nail care products.
In June 2024, the largest market in terms of total sales revenue of cosmetic products on Shopee and Lazada was Vietnam, followed by indonesia.
In terms of product categories, lip makeup was the most profitable segment in Southeast Asia, followed by makeup removers and face makeup. Consumer preferences vary by country. For instance, face makeup products were the best-sellers in Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia, while lip makeup gained significant popularity in Malaysia.
Regarding brands, well-known international brands from Europe and the United States, such as Bioderma, Maybelline, and L'Oréal Paris, hold a strong competitive advantage in this market. The French brand Bioderma accounted for the largest market share. Korean brand BLACK ROUGE and Indonesian brand Wardah took second and third place, respectively.
