This month we focus on the food and beverage industry. This industry includes a variety of common categories such as snacks and sweets, food staples & cooking ingredients, beverages, tea, coffee, milk, and more. We collected this data from Southeast Asia's two leading eCommerce platforms: Shopee and Lazada. We used almost one million SKUs of food & beverage on these two platforms that had at least one sale during June 2024.
In June 2024, Indonesia was the largest online food and beverage market among Southeast Asia’s, followed by Vietnam and Thailand.
Indonesia held the largest online market share in the food segment, while Vietnam was the largest market for beverages & beer and dairy.
In terms of brands, there is intense competition between local and international brands in the food market. In the beverage & beer and dairy segments, international brands demonstrated a strong competitive edge. In the beverage & beer segment, Nestle from Switzerland, along with Coca-Cola and Starbucksand from the USA showed strong online sales performance. In the dairy segment, Ensure from the USA was the best-selling brand.
